Apparently the pandemic was the real catalyst to the family's destruction. My friend was no longer out of the house six days a week, from 8am to 10pm - instead he was home all the time. I think this got in the way of her affair and things spiraled out of control.

It's gotten really bad for his kids. Pre-pandemic, they were all great students who played sports, had thriving social lives - were apparently normal.

Now, they've gone to therapy, been prescribed all sorts of shit that he can't even access records about. He is furious. His youngest girl (6 years old) is on fucking Vyvanse. His oldest boy is taking ambien to go to sleep at night and Xanax to deal with panic attacks. Middle child, a girl, was found have to BOUGHT Percocets from her mom's boyfriend's SON (!!!). Total fucking disaster and the kids don't respond to texts or calls, they cancel on their weekend visits most of the time.

I mean, this is hell. He asked for me advice and, usually, I can give pretty good, if difficult, suggestions for getting my friends back on course, out of the gutter. In this case, I was really speechless. The guy has no savings, hence the mediation. They've got nothing in the market. Basically his paycheck and bonus is spoken for indefinitely. This has to be hell. I don't know how his situation gets any worse. I'd tell him to run away but he has no money!
