Diagnostic testing for cancer is going to profoundly change in the next few years (it's already happening), rendering current "scanning" technology (as used prophylactically) effectively obsolete -- with a few notable exceptions, we'll look back on people trying to scan themselves **for early detection** of cancers like we look back on "physicians" using leaches for treatment. You're going to go to the drugstore, pick up and send in a blood test, and it's going to tell you whether you have an incipient cancers in your body against some large-n number of potential cancers. If you get a positive, you'll do a second-tier test and it'll guide your treating oncologist to the exactly best-targeted therapy.

What's funny is when I saw him he told me the best way to treat cancer was with a dose of the cum leaking out of his ass. Which I guess isn't inconsistent if interpreted generously.

Most aggressive cancers take less than 3 years to grow from a measurable nodule to symptomatic mass(at which point the stage is 3+). And u will not see bowel or lung cancer on mri.

cq. you hear about guys like sergey brin doing the full genetic scan too (23andme is his wife's co? or is that a different one). i'll bet he also paid extra to have a specialist review the results, because he found out that he was much more likely to develop parkinson's or some other disease.

edit: and elon getting on wegovy. so my point here is that the rich absolutely consume a lot of healthcare because there's nothing else you'd rather spend money on.

There a few cancers that are actually caught incidentally on Imaging without any symptoms, i.e. done for trauma or some neurotic person just wants to be scanned for no reason. This may include lung, breast(mammogram hello), and kidney. Bowel cancer is rarely caught,on imaging before symptoms(much more likely on colonoscopy). But then you have cases of people dying from hemorrhage after biopsy of a small pulmonary nodule that turned out to be benign. I've also seen someone have a small renal cancer removed and then get mets 3 months later(probably due to surgery).

this isn't as great as it sounds. i had a scan find a small benign cyst in my pancreas. now i have to get it scanned every 6-12 months to monitor it and wait in painful uncertainty about how this fucking thing will look like in a few months. scanning might be needed for the rest of my life because it could eventually turn pre-malignant or malignant (0.2% chance), etc.

brother you are fortunate to find it this early when it's benign and have a plan of action in case things go south. pancreatic cancer has horrible survival rates because it rarely gets caught early; you, on the other hand, can rest assured that this thing will be cut out as soon as it's mildly concerning or confirmed pre-malignant and go on to live a normal life.

It's a different type of lesion that he has. Even if it needs to come out it has a completely different course than pancreatic adenocarcinoma which wouldn't be a cyst to begin with.
