The Navy SEALs seem like they have a huge culture problem

A friend tried out for the SEALs and was doing well until he literally broke his femur and more or less medically washed out.
My dad is a senior officer in SOCOM (support function, he's not in SF) and was chatting with a few of the admirals/generals that oversee the SEALs about this, they privately revealed that the recruits and teachers are all heavily influenced by hollywood/media and essentially try to just grind people down rather than build an effective fighting force, leading to incidents like my friend where instructors inflict life-threatening injuries to reach a predetermined attrition goal.
I know a few XOers have tried out for the SEALs and many have opinions about this. Any thoughts?

no evidence seals have done jackshit besides kill some goatherders alone with their families or some somali pirates.
good luck with that in an actual war against a real military force.
it's hollywood's idea of "combat"

this is nonresponsive to my poast to which you replied; my point is that RASP and BUD/S are both built to mete out unrelenting punishment, by which to weed out the weak. RASP cadre are sadistic fucks too (SFC Young comes to mind).
That notwithstanding: this is a particularly poor take.
I feel pretty confident in saying the SEALs would wipe the floor with virtually any foreign force you can name, and the same "argument" can be made against any American SOF (to which I'd ask: who, exactly, do you think could have done a better job?).
I'm also quite confident I spend more time thinking about and training for near-peer conflict than you do, and basically all of the same skills apply. The mechanisms of ambushes, raids, room clearing, and all other small unit tactics don't change.
The SEALs may well have a terrible culture -- I don't know because I'm not a SEAL and haven't worked with them -- but it's a pretty shitty argument to say they are bad killers.

"I feel pretty confident in saying the SEALs would wipe the floor with virtually any foreign force you can name"
and you'd be confidently wrong because plenty of foreign forces use heavy weapons, you clitdick geek
"basically all of the same skills apply"
they don't
in a peer conflict what matters is using real weapons, you clitdick geek. not room clearing a goatherders family home with your m16

unsurprisingly, you're misunderstanding.
Yes, if operating as regular infantry against armored or combined arms forces, SEALs would probably need some sort of armor support -- which they would have, because we use combined arms maneuver warfare whenever possible. We didn't use it much in the GWOT because it's pretty useless for COIN. Furthermore, they can and do use man portable AT (Carl G, AT4, Jav, etc.) which is incredibly effective (see: Ukraine). But you're comparing apples and oranges here -- "SEALs couldn't beat armor" when what you should instead ask is who would do a better job in an infantry role: SEALs or any conventional infantry? You're assuming they'd be used in precisely the same manner against a near-peer as they were against the goatherds, and that's ridiculous. The entirety of SOCOM has spent the last several training cycles working on near-peer use cases.
Interesting you don't think the same skills apply. Let's have a pop quiz: what mechanisms about ambushes, raids, patrolling, or any other small unit tactics change when you're fighting a near-peer? What do you think the role of infantry is in fighting a near-peer?
Repeating "clitdick geek" isn't going to help you here -- I have a pretty big dick and I actually train to do this shit for a living so you're 0 for 2.

Pipeline difficulty and culture problems are discrete from one another.
BUD/S is the hardest non-JSOC selection in the military. I'd be surprised if there weren't deserving guys that didn't make it, or a high injury rate.
NSW culture has been considered to be unprofessional for awhile by plenty of qualified outsiders, who have in turn been considered to be jealous pussies by plenty of qualified insiders. I don't have any experience with them myself, but it really just depends on who you ask.

seals are complete toolbags and incredibly cringe. remember when they were carrying fucking tomahawks?
then you have the bin laden team where people were jockeying for position to be in the room/get the killshot and already planning on writing their books about it and cashing in. unbelievably pathetic for the people who are supposed to be doing our most sensitive missions
seals are braggarts who can't wait to go to hollywood so they can be consultants for video games, tv, movies, etc. i guess now the zoomers are dreaming of being "influencers"

I once hung out with some buds grads who came to atlanta while doing jump school at fort benning. Maybe 7-8 of them just weeks out of buds. Most of them were super nice and cool. Two were kinda sketch.
They told me that cheating was a big part of buds. They didn’t mention PEDs or anything, but more half assing stuff while seeming to try hard. Getting punished and told to run out into the surf and roll around when they would just run out and splash some water on themselves and not get in. Go slow on runs but never at the back of the pack. Being the grey man and not stick out.
THe officer, a super cool Stanford grad, said that when things got really hard he would think back to his worst night of high school doing some all nighter on a paper. For some reason that was worse to him than anything in buds. Pretty funny to hear it.
