Date: May 31st, 2023 5:37 PM Author: Galvanic mint alpha i had to quit weed entirely because i love it too much. i was actually considering enjoying this nice summer evening and getting a preroll until i saw this thread. weed is dangerous for me because i don't really drink and my ideal friday night is me hanging out alone and smoking a bit, maybe along with a single glass of wine. the issue is that after smoking for like two nights in a row, i crave it and need it to sleep. i also don't dream if i'm smoking weed which can't be a good thing. i always tell myself, "youve been so good; just enjoy this preroll like a normal person on the weekend and don't touch it during the week," knowing full well i can't do that without inevitably starting to smoke every night again. i don't even smoke a lot when i do smoke-- i can make a single gram last five days without a problem. the person above me who described how smoking for the first time in a while can make you lose DAYS is totally right
it sucks because there really is NOTHING like a nice hit on a warm summer night after a long day |

regarding the mental health stats, the existing evidence looks terrible, but it's impossible do proper long-term control studies, and to rule out confounders like "people who are mentally ill or predisposed to it have higher rates of starting to smoke weed in the first place."
despite what libs will tell you in that anyone can monkey with their own hormones willy nilly, they have a profound effect on the body that we don't fully understand. you don't think it's concerning at all to disrupt their natural function?
i totally grant that weed makes sex and music great, and generally allows somebody to relax -- which is especially useful if you struggle with that. but at the same time, weed makes it easier to escape rather than facing problems, and to avoid developing natural coping mechanisms. |
