My son is only 5 years old and is super smart and a 180 reader. His teacher is so impressed with him she asked him to read from the bible and lead part of mass (which they do every Wednesday). He is the only kid anywhere near his age that was asked to do that. Plus there were like 250 people in the audience and he didn't get nervous at all. Super proud of this guy.

Dear California Shit Law Guru (CSLG),
As a fellow parent of a remarkably gifted child, I write to you seeking insights into the early reading abilities demonstrated by your son, CSLG, Jr.
I am particularly interested in how these skills could contribute to their future engagement on intellectual platforms such as xoxohth.com, a community renowned for its gifted contributors. We aim for our sons, Concern Boner, Jr. and CSLG, Jr., to become key contributors on this platform.
To better guide my son's development, I kindly request that you share:
1. The specific reading materials and educational programs instrumental to CSLG, Jr.'s early reading skills.
2. Strategies or approaches that accelerated his reading development.
3. Insights into how CSLG, Jr. learned to read at such a young age.
In addition to the above, and for reasons that will be communicated to you in due course, I also need to know the policy limits of your automobile insurance. This request is made under provisions of the California Insurance Code and the Law of the Land.
I eagerly await your response and thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in this matter.
Best regards,
Concern Boner

My son basically learned to read on his own when he was between 3 and 4. He basically would memorize the books we would read to him and then sit up at night when we put him to bed and read the books himself. Other than reading lots of books to our kids, we never pushed them too hard. Also, we don't restrict any internet, tv, or music content for our kids. So they have a very strong vocabulary, understand subtle things about language, and speak in a very mature way. I think you have to realize you are raising adults, not children, and shielding them from shit is the wrong approach. You need to expose them to everything, even the bad, and then explain that certain things are only appropriate in certain circumstances. Like we let our children cuss a lot, but they NEVER do it in school or inappropriate times. They aren't "bad" words, just words that are for certain situations.

180. As one your clients, I can say you are a great lawyer and that your brother is also great.
I believe your son may be Catholic one day, and you'll be lucky that he might help to redeem you through prayer. God bless.

I started programming in BASIC at about his age on an Apple II way back in the day. I was entirely self-taught and used it to tell knock-knock jokes. My parents were absurdly proud and pretty much funded all of my computer-related hobbies through high school. You might remember AIM way back in the day and "subprofile" -- that was something I made a very long time ago with a couple friends from high school. Of course, back then, everything was PERL (originally) and then PHP.
Also, if you see that he's interested in more hands-on type stuff (like electrical engineering vs. software development), get him a Raspberry Pi and Arduino quickly. Both are great for different things--I personally have five Rasperries Pi that I use for a variety of tasks. One runs my phone system, one runs my DNS-level adblock, one maintains the security cameras I have setup around my house, and two are for playing around. If he develops more of a knack for that kind of thing and seems to prefer it more, you can move to more sophisticated devices, like actual PLCs. For that, the industry standard is Allen-Bradley; I actually have one in my office right now that I tinker with. The most money I've ever made in my career was in PLC design/development. It's *extremely* complicated, but you can also use PLCs for mundane tasks like controlling lights, AC, etc. When I was a kid, I used one to control the lights in my house--this was before "smart homes" existed and it kind of pissed my parents off because I would routinely cut power to the entire house. One time, we got in trouble because the power company's meter guy came out to read the electrical meter and saw a wire coming from it. I had tapped into the meter with full power (safely) to monitor current being drawn. I didn't realize this was *highly* illegal--it's what drug dealers do when they run grow houses & is referred to as tapping & diverting. You'll undoubtedly run into problems like these if you have an extremely curious, tech-oriented kid. The biggest trouble I ever got into was when my friends and I wrote a computer virus; I remember coming home and telling my parents that the cops might show up with a search warrant and that it's "no big deal."
