For the most part, you can make any event into a good story.

A good example of this would be:

Me and my friend went to lunch and had a burger at that new restaurant.

Pretty basic right? Boring even?

Let's make it interesting, by naming your friend, giving him a one-sentence backstory, and add some emotion and hyperbole into the mix.

I went to that new burger joint over the weekend with Tyler, and damn it was good and here's how I know it wasn't just me. You know Tyler right? So Tyler is a health freak, and I'm talking this guy takes carrot sticks to the movies because popcorn is too heavy.

So we don't hang out often so he goes, "Yo man...let's ball out!" We order the "special" at this place. The pomp and circumstance that surrounded the waiter bringing out this triple stack "burger" you would've thought you were in the middle of a coronation or a drug bust.

Anyways, this thing lands on the table, practically wobbling its legs. I see Tyler entranced by the look and smell of it. Like a cartoon pie beckoning a side character in a cartoon.

This dude practically unhinges his jaw and finishes it in like four bites.

I was a bit slower, but I was in a food coma for the rest of the day.

I give it 5 stars.

I think getting into the habit of telling good stories will translate into you being more confident giving presentations. Oh and watch some stand-up comics. I like to steal a joke or two so I have some "go to's"

"Well, one time, during client negotiations, there was a guy named Mike. Mike is a health nut--you know the type. Mike eats fish on Fridays and is always the first to brag about his 5k time. Mike was a few days late on a payment, so I had to help convince him via my DeWalt 20V cordless drill with a 1/8" concrete bit. Being a health nut, Mike really didn't enjoy the whir as it dug into the miniscule amount of flesh covering his patella. whole point of that interview was basically 4 hours of "cia are good guys who's main fault is they are just a bit overzealous about protecting americans", basically an elaborate answer to an interview "whats your biggest weakness?" q.
