North Korean officials denied his pleas for release and insisted he was part of a U.S. plot to undermine Kim Jong Un's leadership in the pariah nation.
"The imperialist dogs who sent [Bieber] will fail against the glorious might of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," said an unnamed party official.
Bieber reportedly admires the North Korean leader's simple uniform and said that he looked forward to holding future concerts in Pyongyang.
