I don't think they could take the properties before the election. That will require a special court proceeding under Article 52 of CPLR and trump could definitely buy some time in that. But the AG could definitely fuck up trump and his org operations by serving restraining notices on all financial institutions. That'll immediately freeze all accounts held by the judgment debtors (that includes trump and son personally as well as all his entities).
It'll be interesting to see where he goes with this. Bankruptcy would be a potent weapon because it would freeze all of the AG's collection efforts and allow trump and his org to continue operations. But he probably will avoid that at all costs because of the election. I tend to think he'll find a way to either post the bond or pay the judgment by taking some really shitty terms on a loan or firesale of property or assets. He's got the trump social shares coming to him in the next year or so and those could be worth a ton. |
