But small EMPs are also easy to make too. This one only needed to zap the rudder control. No need to disable power on the whole ship. Once the ship was moving you could pretty much assume it would take down the bridge without rudder control. |

i think the big reason why more of this shit doesn't happen is that people smart enough to do it have too much to lose. i think plenty of poasters here could go complete mcveigh or teddy k if they wanted. |

People talk about how the TSA scanners miss half the weapons that people put in their luggage, but does that make you feel confident you can bring a knife or a gun through airport security?
What happens is that people start making shoe bombs and ass bombs that don't work. They start improvising, so they can only make unreliable devices, again driving up the risk of getting caught. |

There is no way to specifically target the "rudder controller" with an "EMP" You would have better luck having some type of zero-day backdoor access into the ships system. The only way you can generate that much EMP is with a nuclear device, which clearly was not the case. There ARE small scale EMP that are non-nuke, but they are very short range/proximity, like you would need to physically be in the room with the control electronics/computers and you still might have difficultly depending how the equipment is already shielded.
If you watch the video you can see that it seems the generators or something stopped working and they tried to restart a couple times, and running the engines full speed, most likely in reverse to no avail .. it was too late. That is something you could definitely do with some malware/rootkit or pay Pajit on the side to throw some metal shavings inside some of the ship electronics (industrial espionage).
I believe the days off "ass" and "shoe" b0mbs are over. The chances you actually get this type of shit past TSA is very low, its not just the microwave and xray scanners you need to get past, there are arrays of chemical sensors as well and dogs as well that are trained for explosives. Also, that shoe b0mb shit was all scare tactics after 9/11, I dont think anyone ever successfully did anything besides make some smoke on a plane.
