There is an immense amount of historical corroboration for much of the historical events in the Bible, both Testaments - whether Christ is the Son Of God is a question of faith, but we know very well that he existed and that many of the earthly stories essentially happened, also with the Jewish kings etc. There is no corroboration at all for anything in the Koran. Nothing. Mecca is essentially not mentioned in any real (i.e. non-Koranic) contemporaneous historical source, its existence as some significant holy place was likely retrofitted a couple of hundred years afterwards as a political device by the Abbasid Caliphate when it defeated the Umayyad Caliphate. Mecca bears no resemblance AT ALL to the physical description of "Mecca" in the Koran, Petra is a better match. Nobody except the Koran ever mentions Muhammad at all, ever. It's all a total fabrication. |
