I'd probably tell him to go to the cheapest of the three and get the four years over with. But if money isn't an issue, UMass seems better placed than the other two. |

URI: attracts low achieving stoners from all over the northeast. The nickname is literally "U R high". This school doesn't even really draw high quality in-state students. Everyone I know who went there was a low/underachiever who was expected to go to college but just wanted to smoke weed and do drugs. I had some friends who were in frats there but they seemed like very chill frat houses.
UMass: attracts all kinds of people from Mass including jock types. The living sections of the campus were segregated by clique: jocks/preps lived in 1 area; asians another; nerds another; hippies/scum bags another. it's located in Amherst which is a mega shitlib bubble. Frats do not seem to be a huge part of the party scene though i believe bigger than on URI. Sports also seem to be a bigger deal than at URI. I had a few friends who played sports there.
UConn: kind of just blah campus and student body with just like normal vanilla people. Storrs is kind of middle of nowhere and not otherwise noteworthy but for being home to UConn. Sports are big on campus and i think the frat scene is the most robust of the 3 schools and they seem to emphasize sports the most. |
