He was artistic and creative and he lived this authentic vagabond lifestyle like he was trying to emulate On the Road or travel around like Bob Dylan on train cars without any money. Probably the most noteworthy thing about him is he was a top tier pussy getter. Especially with arthoes and basically any bleeding heart liberal type of woman would open here legs for him almost instantly. So I thought that was cool it itself. He was a sort of mythic being who did lots of cool shit and was sort of unimpeachable on living rustically and slaying arthoes by moonlight. He had an aura about him and was a guy everybody wanted to know. I felt special in a sense that he liked talking to me. We used to talk all the time for hours. I think on some level he viewed me as a key witness to his exploits, like if there were ever a VH1 Behind the Music episode about him he'd want me to vocalize what I saw. That being said I couldn't ever really keep up with his lifestyle, being way more conservative and straight-laced. It's like that scene in Mad Men where Don gets writer's block and he goes to smoke weed with some arthoes living an alternative lifestyle in the Village. I was the straightest guy he knew, and he was the most outré friend in my life. This all transpired in our 20s and then we drifted apart. Until he messaged me the other day. He hit me up randomly with a disingenuous buttering up talking about how much he cared about me and the old times. It was thinly veiled and easy to see through. It was clear he messaged me just because he wanted to talk about himself. Just came across as a narcissist. He did a lot of humble bragging about having some high profile white collar job (he has no degree so I can't imagine what it is). And then he sent me a link to some EP he released on Spotify with like 11 total plays and it was godawful. He wouldn't shut up about his album and how he had sunk two hundred hours into producing and mixing and mastering it. It was really garbage too. Impossible to listen to. But apparently the full extent of him caring about talking to me was to tell me about his shitty record no one will ever listen to, how incredibly industrious and hardworking he is, and his mysterious prestigious job which I can't imagine what it possibly is. It was the weirdest out of the blue 'I'm so successful now look at me' but he's obviously, at best, some sort of wagecuck with an email job and a nagging wife. And his record stinks and no amount of bragging about how hard he worked on it or how he taught himself mixing could make it any better. So yeah it was evident he just wanted an outlet to talk about himself and I really don't think he's that cool. All the wild man days are behind him. It was like running into Mystery decades after PUA ended and he's just some middle aged wagecuck who loves talking about himself. I won't entertain him further.

Date: April 10th, 2024 12:16 PM Author: Lake curious fat ankles This sounds a lot like the experience of talking to this a kid I know from growing up who really is more of a friend of a friend in that he was my best friends neighbor from down the street, except he flunked out of high school and is a bipolar schizophrenic. He calls everyone from high school and wastes a day or two of everyone’s time being batshit insane because he’s gone off his meds. It used to be more frequent, like a couple times a year, but for the last decade plus it’s like every 2-3 years. Thankfully I have been either way down or totally off the list of people who get a direct call from him during these episodes since Soph year of college because I always put off calling him back, and would usually not manage to do it until he was on an involuntary hold. None of us ever thought he was particularly cool, though, and we knew when we were 14 that he was nuts. The sad part with him looking back is that he was so obviously fucked and his parents were in hardcore denial and the fact that he had us as friends that cared about him seemed to enable their denial and sustain their false hope that he would grow out of it or whatever.
