How hard is it to become a foreign service officer?

Date: April 10th, 2024 9:30 AM Author: Charismatic Ruddy Yarmulke i would love to do that even if it means stamping passports or whatever admin stuff in an embassy in a shithole country. i would be happy to go pretty much anywhere. plus theres a huge allowance for your family for education, housing etc. lot of down time too.
this sounds like an interesting way to live the second half of my life. |

After that then you gotta pass an oral interview or something and then pass an in-person interview. After that you're put on the "roll" which just collects dust in some basement as the State Department hires all their buddies with political connections. Also, the State Department is probably the most evil branch of the most evil government in the history of the world, if you want international intrigue and interest and don't give a fuck about money (which is clear from wanting to work for the State Department), why not work for an NGO or something? The waiting room to get into the online test was multiple hours long and I did not wait. I expected to sign up for a later test and go in person when I had time to plan for that, but I randomly received an email that my application could not go forward.
If you are able to invest the front-end time in application and testing, it's probably not that hard if you get a high score on the test |
