Jimmy Carter sees a golden retriever mid Malaise Speech and pauses
“You know what, folks. I actually think we are doin’ pretty darn good as a nation and as a country. God bless America, and God bless your families”

Emilio, not flame, changed everything for me.
I used to think a lot about a particular Gospel passage, in which Jesus helps Simon and Andrew catch a lot of fish. These guys were pros, on the water their whole lives, probably eking out a living through extremely hard work.
That day, theyre SOL, there's nothing. Just torn up hands and wasted effort.
Jesus arrives, maybe a stranger to them, maybe they had heard gossip. Tells them to do something unusual, go out again, try again. Must have seemed ridiculous.
Ofc, they do it, and they catch a life-changing amount of fish. Probably enough to finally actualize some dreams.
Back on shore, Jesus is like, "Anyway, come follow me."
And they simply walk away with him. They don't only leave their boat (probably the most important thing and biggest investment in their lives), their netting, all their shit. But they leave this windfall of fish. Let it rot. Adios.
They just go.
I used to struggle to understand this.
Posting with Emilio kind of feels like that to me.
