Anyone else annoyed by Scott Van Pelt and the influence he has? He sucks IMO

This is added to the fact that one time a couple friends of mine were at a hotel bar and they saw him standing at the bar. They went up to say hello and he started yelling "IM HERE JUST TO GET A DRINK THE SAME AS YOU GUYS. IM JUST HERE TO GET A DRINK. IM JUST HERE TO GET A DRINK" before they gave up and walked away.
Anyway I hate that he is the main "sportscaster" guy on ESPN. He has his own logo. They just trotted him out for the Masters for an in depth interview about his "opinion" of the tournament so far lol.
Plus he's bald. |

Makes sense, honestly. If you live in NYC, Philly, Boston or Atlanta you have had actually good teams to root for and you probably want to focus your sports leisure time on actually going to games. But save the Nats for like two seasons (which was 95% astroturf anyway) and the Os for the last 10 months (really more Baltimoron-based, plus baseball is dead anyway) any fan of the Skins, Bullets, Georgetown, Maryland (basketball and football), UVA (same), VaTech (same), WVU has had basically nothing worth leaving the house to go see. Like he absolutely loses his shit over some walk on senior at Eastern Michigan scoring his first touchdown during a bowl game after his mother dies of cancer - that's what he's into. He's a, "wowweee aren't sports beautiful sometimes! schtick.
I'd much rather listen to someone like Kornheiser or Cowherd who enjoy pro sports and the business and culture behind it - and have no problem calling out NBA players for being lazy frauds. |
