Omni machines from Harbor Freight, and other brands like AHP, are just as capable as a Miller costing 5x more. I've owned close to a dozen welders over the past 15 years, a couple Millers, an AHP, an Everlast, a few Lincons, an ESAB, and several others. I've had more trouble with the Millers than any of the others. Best TIG I've ever owned is the AHP AlphaTig, hands down

AHP AlphaTig 225Xi or 203Xi with an aftermarket pedal. It's an AC/DC machine with pulse, HF start, pre- and post-flow, etc. It's one of the best machines on the market
Unless you're dead set on paying 5x for a Miller with the same capabilities, the AHP is unbeatable.

Why TIG brother? I would much rather MIG something like that.
I love TIG welding, but it's a lot slower and requires more prep work, so I only use TIG welding/brazing on stainless, thin sheet metal and tubing, and critical aluminum welds that can't be MIGged.
MIG/gasless FCAW would be a whole lot faster and easier, brother.

You're making it out of stainless? Why not mild steel? If you're dead set on stainless, don't count TIG out just yet. Make sure you're able to obtain tri mix helium/co2/argon gas from your local welding gas supplier.
Do you have a way to cut the steel yet? I highly recommend getting a horizontal bandsaw. Skip the bullshit abrasive chop saws. They suck. A horizontal bandsaw is a night and day difference. Just get the cheapo Harbor Freight one for like $300. Or better yet, buy a decent used one.
I'm the resident expert on metalworking. I've got a full home machine shop. Hopefully you can avoid making the same mistakes I made
What's your throwaway email?

my first project will actually be mounting some bolts onto my back gate that the previous owner of the house had nigger rigged with some screws. That's on stainless. I also need to weld the coupler connecting two pieces of 3/4" stainless tubing that's mounting my anemometer.
my second project will be the fireworks barge.
