Furthermore, it seems like Xbox barely provides any competition. Series X sells ruinously (fewer sales LTD than Saturn; most sales are Series S). Xbox isn't going to be pushing the envelope when they can't even get 10m people to buy true next-gen hardware in 3 years. Even if they come out with some godlike hardware and sell it at a loss, it won't matter because for some reason (marketing, PR, making The Same Games over and over again, being afraid to have true exclusives), it will sell ruinously. tl;dr, Xbox's lack of competition means that Sony can chill and support PS5 ad infinitum, and probably will.
