To be fair,
Yeah fair, BTC admittedly doesn't have many "real world" industry applications, unlike... uh, physical gold (which has now held tremendous value for millennia).

To be fair,
Yes, and to my point -- gold has held its tremendous value for all of that time BECAUSE it has so many "real world" uses, unlike BTC which is only valuable because a critical mass of people have collectively decided that they all want to own it for some random reason. That's the real point here, that BTC is basically useless in the "real world" unlike gold which is extremely useful, and that's why it's foolish to try and compare the two.
Gotta run, anyway do you mind stepping in here for a sec and filling in our curious readers on some of gold's many "real world" uses? There are a ton so it should be easy to rattle off a few, gotta jet ttyl!

things are valued based on the price people are willing to pay. air and water are practically free yet essentially for human life.
how many years does bitcoin have to hold tremendous value before people give up on the "but there's no use case!" argument. no matter how much you slam your fists on the table that doesn't change the fact that you can exchange 1 bitcoin for over $50k.
an alpha edition black lotus's intrinsic value is less than a penny in paper pulp and ink. it has not real use case since no one would actually use one to play a game. you'll still have to pay around $100k to get one.

in the long run we're all dead.
i've always been a crypto naysayer but watching it go from under a dollar to five figures over the course of 15 years so far has convinced me that predicating it's price movement based on it's use case is silly.
if we knew which companies would be highly valued in 5 years, let alone 100 years, we'd all be trillionaires. all i know is that btc is currently over $50k and has been over $10k for 4 years now. only the most crazy-eyed acolytes would have thought that in 2010. and we know that that's true since there aren't *that* many bitcoin billionaires out there.

To be fair,
Let's also not forget that these people who are now smugly walking around saying things like "lol u simply can't compare gold to BTC that's sooo dumb" are also the very same people who were smarmily mocking, defaming, and scorning "gullible retards" like me a decade ago back when we suggested that BTC might have tremendous upside and therefore it might be wise to buy and hold some just in case.
"LOL I can't believe there are retards like you who think this obvious scam shit will actually be worth $1000 someday, imagine being so stupid that you actually believed that and wasted your hard earned money on 'internet coins'" they all sneered back then. Now we live in a world where there are millions of people on this planet who would GLADLY knife a homeless man to death in a dark alley just for a CHANCE to get their hands on a single BTC for $1000.
Oh well, sure, last time around I ended up being proven to be 1000% correct on this topic and they were all proven to be laughably wrong (to the tune of "shit I just left a massive destiny-changing fortune on the table") but this time around I'm sure they really have it all figured out and I've become the idiot who doesn't get it...

To be fair,
Wow, I guess using that airtight logic, it's also foolish to compare the invention of the Internet with the invention of the moveable type printing press in terms of its impact on the dissemination of information across culture, since once has been around for hundreds of years and the other was only invented a few decades ago and only really came into ubiquitous usage a generation ago.
I mean shit, who knows if "the Internet" will have REAL staying power like printed books!

Oh look how triggered tbf is.
To be fair, I would be too if I demanded the names of everyone who was voting for Trump in 2016 to mock defame threaten them for being so silly, and then getting my asshold blown the fuck out, then breaking my promise to retire, and then trying to reinvent myself as the 'predictions guy' after having completely whiffed on the event that has most consumed the board since its invention.
Retarded faggot.

To be fair,
Link to your best and most prescient documented predictions before I engage with you further, random unknown midwit faggot coming in here and smugly acting like I get everything wrong when I actually have a documented 15+ year history of generally making very strong predictions (especially on financial matters) and no one ITT even knows who the fuck you are ("But trust me, I always get things right, I'm not dumb and wrong like TBF, I'm actually very smart and I know things and I wouldn't lie about something like this to total strangers on the internet!")
I'll wait.

*makes all time biggest whiff of a prediction on xo where he took names at how ridiculous someone could be to actually think trump could win and SWORE to retire from the board forever if he was wrong*
*was wrong*
*is still posting 8 years later as "the predicions guy"*
No, To be a fucking faggot, no one owes you a link to anything. Your faggot ass said you'd retire if you got your biggest prediction wrong, and you got it WRONG, faggot.
Now go retire like you said you would, faggot.
"Hey, I'm still the 'predictions guy' here!"

love how crypto speculators completely ignore that crypto is highly correlated to the QQQ and that, if the SPX drops 10%, crypto will get demolished. you can't intelligently opine on the price of btc without indirectly opining on the price of the QQQ. the best value of crypto right now is a highly leveraged long play on the market for people who don't know more cost-effective ways to achieve that leverage.
all these arguments about "store of value" are irrelevant if there's a market crash.

To be fair,
So in other words.... BTC *is* going to zero, just wait for the next market crash?
Wow, you convinced me -- EXIT ALL EXPOSED POSITIONS!

so your take is that there is *not* correlation, and that in a macro liquidity crunch btc will not go down?
so in other words... BTC will be ABOVE 70k if SPX is under 4800 in the next two months?
i love that you always reference "crypto is going to 0!!" as the goalpost. it's not. the only goal in investing is the highest risk adjusted return.

To be fair,
"in the next two months"
I literally have zero thoughts or predictions about what BTC or ETH or SOL or LINK will do "in the next two months." You could tell me BTC will be $5k or you could tell me BTC will be $250k, and I would genuinely say "sure maybe so" in both cases. Who cares? I wouldn't sell my stack at that point in either scenario, so why does it matter to me? It's completely inconsequential to my lived existence, until I actually sell and lock in gains or losses it's all just abstract numbers flashing on a screen and the only thing I can do with those is waste my time looking at them, which is boring so I don't bother doing it.
I believe that BTC will hit $1,000,000 in my lifetime, and that some or all of SOL and ETH and LINK will skyrocket to insane new highs (like 50x+ level at a minimum) that we haven't even dreamt of yet at some point down the line. And when *that* happens, *then* I will start selling those assets. Not before.
That's all that matters to me. I don't need any of that fucking money in order to live my life just fine in the meantime, so why do I care whether my prediction comes true tomorrow or whether it takes another 10 years? The point is that I am confident that it will happen down the line, and that I will still be alive (and probably still reasonably young) when it happens.
