They discuss breaking down (ionizing) regions of the atmosphere by blasting metal particulates with directed energy. With phased array antennae this means controllable plasmas or artificial ionosphere that you can move and tilt.
Radio waves go up and bounce down off the ionosphere. If you put your own artificial ionosphere up, then you can intercept or redirect enemy transmissions. Or you can enable over the horizon radar comms for submarines.
Also possible to use controllable plasmas to redirect atmospheric rivers, influence weather patterns.
If in fact the atmosphere is saturated with metals, this might help explain why a) the sun is white not yellow b) the sky is light blue not deep blue c) the horizon appears to have a silvery metallic haze
If the sky is getting blasted with EM, this would explain why you sometimes see geometric or other wave-y “field” patterns in the sky |
