I want to work well into my 70s, at least until I have to start taking RMDs

Date: April 20th, 2024 12:57 AM Author: mustard degenerate Anecdotally speaking, people in their 60s are generally fine to keep working. As you get into your 70s, it gets a bit more touch and go. RMDs start the April after you reach 73. I want to work until then without a doubt. When I’m 73, my kids will be between 36 and 44. Hopefully I’ll be in a position to help them get started with their careers and investing along the way. Thinking about this a lot lately. I don’t want to retire until I have to because of disability or medical issues or because I’m mid-70s. My mom was all about “retiring early” and she’s now a complete mess. Getting scammed regularly, riddled with dementia, her grand children hate her, and she lives alone out in the middle of nowhere. I hope she takes up pickleball so she’ll have something to do. |
