Retire or get retired? In many cases people hold on for as long as possible until they get shown the door. 60-65 seems like the age where that is likely to happen. More senior positions are less secure in this regard.

From my perspective it’s an incredibly boring paper pusher job where you’re more likely to be overloaded with shit and stupid meetings and calls than in private practice. It just seems miserable.

A lot of people get retired against their will at 60 or so. They get their RSUs vested and I assume most of them are fine retiring early, but again it’s clearly not their choice.
