He played the exact same guy in True Romance and no one really noticed him or said "wow that guy's amazing." It's the second-most famous scene in the movie after the Walken interrogation scene, but no one ever gave a fuck about the actor playing the mobster.

The Baldwin Acting Family is so 180. They've got an effortlessly masculine trashiness that's rivaled only by the cuomos.

That they can pull this off while being non-Italian is incredible.

TCR. The Breaking Bad supporting character actors were mostly TTT. And not in the Sopranos way, where a lot of actors kind of sucked at acting in general (like Tirico or Curatola) but were good in the role. The supporting characters in Breaking Bad were bad in their role, too. That show was a fucking tour de force by Cranston.

My point is that the movie *felt* like a David Chase product, similar but tonally different than the Sopranos. The big thing missing was gandolfini.

I think the argument against that is that Jon Hamm had really great actors like Elizabeth Moss, John Slattery, Vincent Kartheiser and Robert Morse - and then a B list cast behind that was pretty good.

Deadwood had Timothy Olyphant and John Hawkes.

The OP Is slightly off though because Edie Falco is a great actress and Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperoili are good too - but a lot of the other mobsters sort of walked in off the street and have never acted again.

I think tony's family is too important to say this. When you compare sopranos to breaking bad, sopranos is the better show primarily because it's family scenes were never horrible and often enjoyable. The skyler/walt jr. scenes in BB were fucking excruciating.

The actor also recalled a time when they got into an argument on set. She called him a "bully," while he told her she wasn't "bright." He explained that he went on to tell her, "'I have a button I can push, that button says, 'Get rid of Amanda Bearse.' You don't have a button that says, 'Get rid of Ed O'Neill.' Your button doesn't work.' Now, this was a mean thing to say. I never was going to push that button, but it was true!"

True on both counts, but that’s not what carrying the show means. It still would’ve been a terrific show with an inferior Tony.

It was too much of an ensemble show for any one actor to carry.
