Assuming Russia does eventually take the Donbas, Macron has strongly hinted that he would be willing to send French troops to prevent Russia from taking either Odessa or Kiev:
When it came to the option of sending troops into Ukraine, Macron said that anyone who advocates “limits” on how the West helps Ukraine “chooses defeat.” He insisted that “if the situation should deteriorate, we would be ready to make sure that Russia never wins that war.”
Following a March 7 meeting with parliamentary parties, Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party, reportedly said that “Macron referenced a scenario that could lead to intervention [of French troops]: the advancement of the front towards Odessa or Kiev.”
[Macron] said that “war is back on our [i.e. Europe’s] soil” and that Russia is “extending every day their threat of attacking us even more, and that we will have to live up to history and the courage that it requires.”
On March 14, Macron, again expressing his position that sending troops from NATO countries is an option that should not be discarded, said that “to have peace in Ukraine, we must not be weak.” This time, he gave as his reason that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was “existential for our Europe and for France.”
He proceeded to say that “it wouldn’t be us” who would trigger such a move and that France would not lead an offensive into Ukraine against Russia. “It would be Russia’s sole choice and sole responsibility,” he said. And then he added, “If war was to spread to Europe,” it would “be weak, to decide today that we would not respond.”

To be fair,
Oh shit, the "French Foreign Legion" might possibly get involved in this brouhaha at some point in the future, according to a random article on the internet?
Oh well, well damn. OK I know I've sarcastically said this many times over the last two years, but THIS really feels like "a turning point" IMO.

Russiacucks are absolutely delusional if they think the West will allow a repeat of Feb-March 2022 and not get more directly involved
it’s just not going to happen again, whether you like it or not

To be fair,
April 2023 TDWN: "LOL @ Russia, they are literally down to old men fighting with shovels, this shit is so over they'll end up losing more territory than they even had before the war began. Pathetic!"
April 2024 TDNW: (Frantically rushing to explain how an article that literally begins with the line "Assuming Russia does eventually take the Donbas,..." is ackkkkkkkkshually great news -- FOR UKRAINE!!!11)

To be fair,
"Russia better kick it up and get moving before Ukraine finally stops pulling punches and floods the battlefield with all of the healthy and battle-ready young men in the prime of their lives it's been holding in reserve so far!"
Lmao
Uh...
*Leans into mic*

To be fair,
In summary, this thread was absolutely hilarious and we're now reaching levels of Ukrainecuck cope that I genuinely never would have thought possible.
Between the "French Foreign Legion" and the battalions of heretofore-hidden young healthy 25-36 year old Ukrainian soldiers that are surely about to start flooding the battlefield any day now (just wait two weeks), it sounds like Russia is well and truly FUKT this time.
Lmao thanks for the chuckles, lads

In other words, just ignore everything I said.
As if taking the Donbas and yet being unable to take Kiev or Odessa would mean Russia is "fucked." What it would mean is an ambiguous result, which is what I've been predicting since Ukraine's failed offensive last summer.
Now, if you personally believe that taking the Donbas but being unable to take Kiev or Odessa means that Russia is "fucked" then fine, I guess they are fucked under your definition of victory. But under mine it would be an ambiguous result. Certainly not worth the cost to Russia, but at the same time a worse result than Ukraine would have hoped for.
