go get codex (better than claude code b/c it creates images and you can talk to it)

pay the subscription for a month - ideally $200 if you really want to see shit, but $20 is fine to understand

tell it to make you a fuckign video game - e.g. i want a mario bros style platformer with x special unique things

tell it create the images you want

it will build you a fucking video game bros. it takes a lot back and forth but it's literally equivalent to telling a bunch of azn outsourced programming and graphics shops what you want, for $20/200 a mnonth

game development is going to entirely be you are the creative director + qa/playtester/bug fixer. everyone with an idea and focus will be able to develop their own game

now extrapolate that to all white collar work including one day CEOs

and remember, today is as bad as the models will ever be. this is going to be fucking nuts and people dont realize it yet

I agree with the statement in the thread title but it's funny that everyone who says this, including you, can never actually give any real examples of how it will significantly change people's lives

Like how does being able to crank out random slop video games change anyone's life in any significant way lol

Very "odd" that pro-AI propagandists, including the most famous and prominent people in the industry, can never give any actual examples of how *exactly* AI will change - let alone improve - people's lives

my example is i made a game for my kids, they love it, they get to suggest features, we talk through what that means to actually do, it takes codex 2 minutes to build it, then i get 10 minutes relief when they play through the new level/feature/wahtever, and then they get behavior incentives in order to get to build more stuff

so my life is better in that way bro

"Well, it seems like a big deal, but for other reasons. Also, why can't you give any actual examples of how it will change our lives? And why can't anyone else who is pitching AI to the general public?"

"Exactly what I said."

think of the jobs that will be lost/changed in the industry

think of the *million new games (yes, 99.9% slop, 0.1% cool, the 0.1% will still more games that are being created total today)

think of the kids that will grow up just talking to their computers to build shit

it is extremely going to change your lives within 20-40 years, in ways that are completely invisible right now to anyone using it today. it's like how the mayans invented the wheel but only used it for childrens' toys (no idea if this is actually true). That's where we're at right now.

yeah codex is really really wild now. whats insane is you don't really have to fix anything now. i mean nothing ever breaks on extra high especially if you have a ton of good unit tests. its incomplete usually on first passes but if you just keep iterating you can basically build anything with next to no effort. you don't have to create anything, it builds the directories, creates files, even runs unit tests and smoke runs for you.

Yeah it's very good now. Try making a protoype for something in it and then develop the full thing when 5.6 is out since that scores like 93% on SWE. Even with codex 5.5 extra high it isn't anything like what it used to be with fucked up bugged out code. The older ones added so much defensive coding slop and made weird decisions on its own that broke shit when everything glued together. I just used it a couple of weeks ago to vibe code a 10K line monte carlo sim and it worked fine. It never breaks the build. It wasn't perfect in one pass, but all of the "bugs" were just like methodological short-sightedness. A lot of it just because it can only write so much code at once.

Yeah it's a multi-staged stochastic sim with coupled physical constraints. The monte carlo part is sampling the uncertain params. But the code length comes from the system being sampled. Actually I might start working on it again, I want to replace the free parameters with measured ones so that it's actually calibrated and not free floating

look into using gradient boosted trees as a surrogate model for stochastic constraint analysis if you already have the constraint logic and uncertainty handled adequately. If you don't, tackle that problem first by using constraint solvers and probabilistic programming, then use monte carlo simulations to sample possible worlds and gradient boosted trees to quickly approximate the simulator's behavior.

more succinctly: (1) probabilistic programming defines uncertainty; (2) monte carlo samples worlds from the uncertainty model; (3) constraint solvers optimize each world; (4) your simulator records the outcomes; and (5) gradient boosted trees learn a fast approximation of those outcomes

Just looked into gradient trees it seems useful. Once I replace the toy parameters with physical data, I might set it up to run controlled sensitivity sweeps. Then once I get like 100K to 1M runs I can train a surrogate model. Which package do you usually use for it? Do you use scikit learn? Or lightgbm/xgboost?

everyone knows that tech is the harbinger of change, even retards know this which is why they are always fighting against it. it's why Sony guys like cowshit are dripping tears onto their physical media copies of God of War Ragnarok. still, being able to generate some half-assed derivative video game clone is not really selling your point.

it does things automatically and interacts with your actual computer

so if you ask it to make a game, it plans everything, creates the entire game (probably spawning subagents to work on multiple parts at once), writes the rests, builds, runs the tests in a loop until everything works

cowork is just a more generic version not specifically oriented towards coding (and can also e.g. open your browser and have it do shit)

codex can look at all of the files itself at any moment as well as edit/create/reference/etc all on its own

using chatgpt is like AOL in 1995

using codex is like broadband

i guess can get the same thing (nude pic of pamela anderson) from both, but one is gonna have you watching every line render for 4 hours and the other will be instant and you can get a much higher qualty version as well as long videos of her sucking tommy off in their car on the highway
