I have 2-3 strong coffees every day. After about 10 days, I feel totally fucked and have to go 2-3 days without coffee before starting over.

I wish I didn't need the break, but I don't really have a choice. Once I hit that point where my system feels overloaded with caffeine, my productivity drops off a cliff.

Just wondering if I'm the only one this happens to.

I poison myself with caffeine to the point I’m sweating, can’t concentrate, feeling anxiety, and have a headache probably 4 mornings per week. It’s fucking terrible, but I have to ingest enough coffee to undo the liver damage of drinking a six-pack right before bed every night.

I ODed on caffeine pills in high school. Miserable experience. I wanted to stay up all night and work on some last minute homework, but I remember laying around in bed, hoping my heart will stop racing.

One interesting thing was that I had recently listened to Primal Scream's XTRMNTR. That album was running through my head all night and the next day. Perfect music for this sort of thing.

does a jittery nervy feeling and feeling a little sick in the stomach from a couple of coffees too many count as “intoxication”?

Not really. When you're really intoxicated, you don't have energy or ability to concentrate. It's a wasted day.

PS. Today was my wasted day. I was going to go out for a ride and do a lot of shit. I stayed in bed all day nursing my addiction. I will go back to coffee around Wednesday.

you're intaking more caffeine at a faster rate than your body processes it, so it's building up over time

how fast your body processes caffeine is genetic and you have really slow processing. i'm like you but not as extreme. i can't take any caffeine past ~10am or else i can't sleep that night

try the same thing i do (don't take any caffeine past ~10am) and see how it goes

Caffeine is a hobby to me. I enjoy it at all times of the day, including the evening. I can sleep just fine. The problem is the buildup after 1-2 weeks.

Coffee is a psychoactive drug that increases alertness, reduces fatigue, affects mood, and can cause dependence and withdrawal. So yes, it is a mild, mind-altering drug. Nobody said it's "a real drug" like cocaine.
