oh yeah one amazing thing is i walked thru the munich train station and i swear to got it reminded me of mumbai train station i like 1998, it was so rundown and third world, they also dont have toilets, u have to pay like 2 euro to use a toilet

So orderly yet COVERED in graffiti. Laws and so Catholic and/or Mainline Protestant, yet brothels everywhere. Rule-abiding but entire parts of the city are aggressively middle eastern.

Biergartens are awesome, though, especially when it’s 9:30pm and still light out and it’s 72F. Civilized even though everyone is on average ~1.5L in.

The most positive aspect of Germans lies in the fact that they have a relatively high average intelligence and expect a lot of their leaders and society. They look upon the things we tolerate in this regard with absolute and genuine astonishment. Things they consider scandals that will hound a politician out of public life are a regular Tuesday here.

Beyond the political stuff (and I agree with your point), they are generally outraged by the disorder in the US. I remember getting a warning about riding the U-Bahn in Berlin, and I had to lol - there are scarier people on the walk from my parking spot to my office.

it feels oppressive until you realize the alternative is a society where everyone has to be their own enforcer. the german model works until it does not work, but while it does work, it actually gives you more freedom than the american one. you can trust the system because everyone else is trapped in it too.

Oh and none of the native Germans even bother trying to enforce their laws and standards against these hostile invaders, and they will literally arrest you if you're German and you try to do it yourself
