They are talking about removing the cap on payroll taxes. This would turn into a 13% tax increase on the self employed on income above 180k. On top of other taxes, it would basically take away 20% of my current post tax income, roughly speaking.
As a Shitlaw boss, I am reminded daily of how important SS is to America. I talk to multiple proles every day who have literally no income other than their monthly SS check. If it gets cut, it means real pain and it means political consequences. But JFC, is there some way to fix this other than just going after entrepreneurs? |

I wouldn't cut it out entirely for people who have sufficient private income but heavily tax your SS income if you have above a certain threshold of other income from pensions or 401ks or investments.
It's not ideal but better than having a poverty crisis among the elderly. |
