The median cabin on a lake is on the electric grid, has an LP furnace, and has a septic tank. Generally, the only thing that is really different from a suburban home is that you're going to have to get LP delivered & get the septic tank pumped once every 3 years.
There's variations though. Backwoods areas tend have more power outages so you may want a backup generator, so you'd have to maintain that. Some places are off the grid, which is way more tolerable these days with modern solar panels & lithium batteries.
Many will do a fair amount of woodburning because wood is cheaper than LP, so you'll have to clean the chimney every year to avoid a chimney fire.
Some places you can't put a septic or mound system in, so your only option is a holding tank. Those are undesirable because you have to get them pumped way more often than you would a septic.

I will say that this stuff I described is the 'extra' stuff you have to do for *regular* maintenance.
For one-off stuff, I would say it helps a lot to be fairly inclined to DIY because service businesses are fewer & located further away. At our family cabin I've done a certain amount of plumbing & heating stuff that I suspect a lot of suburban normies would call a guy for.
And there probabl is more one-off bullshit that happens at a lake house vs. suburban house. Like, you're gonna have a tree go over at some point. You need to be able to run a chainsaw.

Sophomore year of HS, I had a substitute teacher for a long time because our regular teacher was out on maternity leave
This sub was pretty young and she had a nice body. But it was very confusing because her clothing was weirdly dated and she had the WORST Wisconsin accent I've ever heard in my life. Which is really saying something considering I am from Wisconsin.
She must have been some farm girl who went to tiny schools.

Chilling on a beatiful, clean, quiet lake, drinking Spotted Cow, without a care in the world is one of the most cr things in life.
$350k/year partners at Milwaukee and Madison regional firms do this 25% of weeks and 85% of weekends from June-Labor Day.
This 7 acre island on a nice lake could be yours for under $400k: http://zillow.com/homedetails/Nokomis-Dr-Tomahawk-WI-54487/454884476_zpid/. TT should have done this instead of bouncing around SE Asia.
