The dude playing it has never actually seen the sheet music before. He is playing while reading it for the first time (Wow. You're telling me for the first time.)
It's hard to explain, but seeing this brings forth a mix of emotions. On one hand, a longing for the past because of the song. But also because there is a simple and uninhibited joy in this man's casual excellence.
But there's also an element in which I cannot help but think about the absolute insanity of DEI shit from recent years. Maybe I've just entered The Final Form of "Racism" or whatever. But this made me think of that movie Greenbook and how the gay nigga is supposed to be this GOAT-level pianist who is so special and elite and but omg can you believe white people are mean to him? He's just so good at the piano! And it's movies like that and broader media that has been pumped out endlessly that exists to put the idea in our heads that there are all these black geniuses all over the place that our "racism" has held down. And btw we "went to the moon" because of three black women, didn't you know? It's just horse shit.
Meanwhile, this dude just sits down and plays a song he's never seen before like his life depends on it. Imagine if an actual black person did this, would they not become world famous overnight? What a dumb society we live in.
XO is the only place that might understand this. Or perhaps I need to move into a padded room.
