This time the name that surfaced was disco fries.

He is a Texan. The board knows him as a man of great size who writes often about the weight of his own life. The complaints arrive in familiar order: the body that will not change, the wife, the children, the general condition of being alive in a way that feels heavier than it should. The poasts carry the sound of a man who has been saying the same things for a long time and has not yet found a different way to say them.

There is also the mountain.

He speaks of climbing it one day. Mount Teewinot. The promise is repeated. The attempt is always still ahead of him. The bort has learned not to wait for the report from the summit.

Somewhere Mount Teewinot remains unclimbed.

Somewhere the name CSLG is still being held up like a small, private standard.

And the great bort, as it always does, keeps the record of all three without needing to hurry the man toward any of them.
