the official zozo approved diet is NOSEEDOILS, NOBREAKFAST except eggs mcmuffin, frozen stew, and sierra mist served BOILED only. wine may be consumed IN MODERATION in hidden taverns.

dining is permitted at weddings but you must eat with CHOPSTICKS (assuming it's wgwag)

Literally just eat food with nutrients instead of ultraprocessed garbage and you'll live longer than most Americans. Including the ones who look good. As long as you're fairly active, you can be a slightly chubby dude who's getting lots of nutrients via a whole diet and be better off on most metrics than a ripped gymbro who gets most of his calories from Big Macs. Same with a slightly chubby girl vs. a girl on GLP-1s who stays skinny by eating small portions of typical, sugary American diet.

It's like society forgot about nutrition when it became too fixated on size.

see, I'm doing the opposite of this.

I look good, low-BF%, but my insides are dying because all I eat is McDonald's and Diet Soda.

Yeah, you'd be getting way more for your calories if you ate real food. And adding vitamins/supplements would be an improvement but it's not the same as getting your nutrition from real food. Something about the bioavailability maybe? Don't quote me on the "why."

Diet soda is probably OK. There's conflicting information. But I lean toward believing that it's fine when you're mostly eating whole. The main issue with a diet full of UPFs isn't what you're consuming, it's what you're NOT consuming.

I'm lazy as fuck so nowadays I order takeout most of the time and I just order whatever is calling to me, which ends up getting me a lot of variety. I generally avoid things with a LOT of carbs because I consider them empty calories (rarely ever eat pasta or pizza, and I try not to have sandwiches or avocado toast too often). I avoid sugary snacks but am also human.

Yesterday I ate:

- Lunch: leftovers from a giant salad I ordered the day before... Caesar salad w/ half kale, anchovies, hard-boiled eggs, shrimp

- Dinner: Korean steak bowl with beef, cauliflower rice, broccoli, sweet potatoes, edamame, more kale, hot sauce

- Snack: pistachios

- Midnight snack (you're not supposed to eat close to bed but my schedule is fucky): small bowl of bone broth soup with brisket

I don't track anything, I just try to eat a lot of different stuff.

My labs are great: 38 triglycerides, 72 HDL, 104 LDL (doctors always tell me the LDL is slightly above ideal but not something I need to worry about when you look at my other numbers), 84 glucose. I monitor my blood pressure at home (mostly because I eat so much salt; sodium is probably the main concern for restaurant food) and it's stayed around 100/60.

18000000 enjoy!!

Excellent memory. "Like a small mammal"? I had unexplained tachycardia (RHR often 100-110) from childhood to my mid 20s but my RHR is in the 70s now. I don't think it's about activity level because I've always gone through sedentary phases and active phases and never seen a correlation with RHR – just a correlation with how much my HR goes up DURING exercise. My best guess is that it's stress-related. I chilled out a lot in my late 20s and I think that was reflected in my physiology.

i remember you posting about it, because i experienced the same thing when i was young, and i was curious how it turned out for you. i ended up taking beta blockers to bring HR down to normal.

some people have unexplained tachycardias due to weird, vaguely understood dysautonomia/sympathetic nervous system imbalances -- like 'POTS' syndrome, etc. it can also sometimes be a response to 'trauma,' where the 'fight- flight' response gets locked into a state of chronic arousal.

but it sounds like yours balanced out.

Interesting, does it have any side effects? My friend out here is on them, I remember because it's a funny name. He's on it for tremors.

For me, I think it was closer to the "trauma" thing... some kind of persistent, high-grade anxiety. I don't specifically remember feeling like I was in a heightened state all the time because I didn't have a reference point. I don't think I even considered myself "anxious" because I'm so type B and go-with-the-flow. But in retrospect I think I was probably freaking out all the time a little bit. I think most of our generation (and the ones after) have some kind of constant anxiety (whether reflected autonomically or not), which is sad to think about. I remember it being so exhausting.

Not flame, when I calmed down, my weight distribution also became more favorable. Because of the cortisol from before, I guess.

yeah, that's the thing w/ the 'embodied trauma' idea: it's like your body is in a state of arousal/perpetual 'anxiety' somatically but without the subjective experience of anxiety. it's purely physiological.

it sounds woo-woo and silly, but I think it is a legit phenomenon. people with overly 'sensitive' nervous systems absorb and embed interpersonal/familial tension 24/7 and the hyperarousal switch gets locked into place.

but it can un-stick itself over time, as in your case.

Definitely makes sense. Pretty sure my flip switched when I found a fulfilling, rewarding hobby that took up my mental energy and pushed out the negative thoughts. And pursuing the hobby also helped me feel good about myself, which eventually got rid of the layer of self-loathing that (I'm guessing) had me hyperaroused.

i am currently health-maxxxing with intermittent fasting and have recently embraced the pescetarian-lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. While this may, in fact, sound highly homosexual, I can assure you that it is a little, but it also provides me a healthy lyfestyle. fwiw, I am highly fit and not fat with excellent blood work results and low BP hth

Very cr. Metabolic health is to live long; exercise is to make sure you have a good QOL as you age.

The GLP-1-peddling Powers That Be have made people focus too much on the CICO side of it. It is to their benefit if we are all Small, malnourished, and weak.
