Qohelet is stranded between a polytheistic solution no longer available within the monotheistic tradition he was writing inside, and an individuation vocabulary not yet invented, which is why the text can only oscillate rather than resolve.

I'm upfront in the post that this isn't conventional historical-critical work, it's asking what psychological condition produces this specific oscillation. You can disagree that's worth doing, but it's not "misinterpreting to support my worldview" - the god-image containing both good and evil is already in the text

Your objection is like dismissing a Heideggerian reading of Antigone because it isn’t a critical edition of the Greek. Every thick reading of Ecclesiastes does what he is doing and it's not like he tries to hide it. He declares the lens and doesn't pretend it is a historical reading. Not saying I agree with his reading either. It's more that once he says he is doing a phenomnological/depth psychology reading, you can't really make this criticism.
