Nibelheim incident vibe was unbelievably 180 on the original. had no idea wtf was happening and was good enough to keep you playing until like 2am. a triumph. don't know why they didn't keep certain things like the Angles in the Staircase or the mad scientist vibe in the basement. but I mean jesus fucking christ, at some point you're just an autist yelling at clouds who wants everything to be The Same because autists are legitimately dismayed by Change. The people making these Games have Egos and want to things Differently for no reason or for oblique Japanese cultural reasons that we don't understand at all. |

I think a lot of the issues today come from the graphical abilities being so strong. It leaves little room for one’s imagination to fill in the blanks. And as part of this, I think game dev companies actually have less imaginative people in their ranks. Thus we are left with Graphics and fetch quests. |

And the issue with the graphics is just that - they have gotten so easy to be good that all the creative thought is sucked out. Obviously the people in the slums should be epic scumbags, but the 10,000k employees working on the game aren’t capable of such a thought. And the sheer size of the employee base will make it hard for anyone to Take Charge and Give Direction.
You should set up a Clique Consulting Company and consult with game devs. Excuse me, I mean a Klique Konsulting Kompany. |

Anyway there is still room for auteurs in Games. The Death Stranding games are very metal gear esque. Stuff like the motion capture is inexplicably Kojima esque. It’s not like Kojima is haplessly unable to control anything. Western devs are another story. And square Enix just kind of sucks. The Emperor actually got involved at one point in settling the score with Nintendo and requiring the merger between Squaresoft and Enix. They really give you a lot of fun lil insights into the relationships and story in a very economical way. Shit like Wolf being annoyed with nepo baby Andrew, Fox being resentful/admiring of his Dad (who was a shitty businessman but good pilot), Falco being cocky but Secretly Heart of Gold, we love to see it.
the soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road. it's awesome.
I think the multi has big potential, i've only done it against bots right now to get a feel for it, but I like the set up and the potential and love dogfighting generally.
I think the future for the series is something like this - keep the on rails/arcadey sections, but greatly expand the offerings and all range mode levels. I would like to open up the all range mode with bigger stages where you can really use altitude to your advantage (maybe play with physics--like add a gravity component where climbing takes more burn). And it would be cool if you had a set of squadron commands where you could set objectives for your wingmates. |

A sourced thread about Star Fox sales is not meaningless because the sales are bad. It's not pointless because people dislike the point. It's not spam because the room saw the truth and was Afraid what it meant.
My posts have substance. They have angles. They have sources. They create discussion in a community that too often feels run-down, thin, and allergic to anything beyond fan-club maintenance.
If the standard is "do not upset the lowest common denominator," I read the message loud and clear. If you want to dress that up as quality control, then, well, 'nuff said.
