it's bizarre how they never seem to deviate from their normal offense even if they're down and there's like 2 min of "stoppage" time left. like they have no 2 minute drill game plan or trick plays and instead just run off tackle until the clock runs out and they lose with grace and dignity.

seems easier to just have one guy who can kick the length of the field and rip half court shots and hope for lucky bounces. retarded how these fags just pass the ball around back and forth when there's like a minute left and they need to score.

Offsides rule prevents a lot of innovation wrt scoring. So many goals result from a shot being put into the general area in front of the goal and another bro semi randomly connecting on a header/kick/deflection ... tells me that a melee approach of just flooding that area with muscular men would result in a lot of pleasure. But that's impossible with faggy offsides

No this is false. If there was no offsides, teams would play even more defensively because they would need to constantly guard against cherry picking.

lol yeah. im thinking part of that is because of this no real clock thing where the ref decides whenever he feels like it

if a team has a ball and is advancing it theyll usually keep the game going until they get a shot off or lose possession then blow the whistle

no and that seems fine but still not a normal sport decision.

its odd when they are in extra time and it's already 4 minutes past the ET and some defender completely clears it to midfield and no one has possession and then he runs around screaming at coaches and giving yellow cards.

wtf was that

I am enjoying the games and I am not a soccer hater, but the sport definitely lacks epic comebacks for the most part. Sure, they happen, but I don't know if there has ever been the equivalent of this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Comeback_(American_football)

or the 2022 Phillies 6-run ninth to beat the Cardinals in the wild card round.

because I don't think it is possible.

This is false, when teams are losing they start sending more players forward but even this needs to be done carefully because it makes the team vulnerable to easy counter goals (like Belgium scored against USA to make it 4-1).

this is one of the few things about soccer that i actually like

the unstructured, inexactness of it (stoppage time, offsides calls (until this new gay "chip" shit), out-of-bounds determinations)

the only individual aspect of this general attitude is foul calls, which seem way too subjective and inconsistent to me for how much of the game they can potentially determine. this may be a function of me not being familiar with the precise rules/determinations for foul calls, but it seems to be an sentiment that many others have too

yeah it works for soccer in general but it still makes me lol to see something as huge as the world cup and the ref is just making shit up

they're not making shit up. at the start of the next stoppage time, take out a stopwatch and start and stop it for every additional stoppage of play during stoppage time. you'll get pretty close to when the ref stops the game

watch the end of NCAA soccer matches to see the alternative. (they count down from 45 minutes and the match is over when the clock reaches zero.)
