Most of the underlying machinery comes from Jung, Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, Piaget, Eliade, evolutionary psychology, and the broader depth-psychological tradition. Peterson's distinctive achievement was assembling those materials into an unusually compelling contemporary framework and communicating it to a huge audience.
