Distance is just an arbitrary variable inside a spatial array. In code, two variables don't need to travel across a physical map to communicate. They can reference the exact same memory address. Distance is an illusion within the simulation so the update is instantaneous.

I heard Elon describe the vast distances in space as necessary to allow for processing time to render the new environment in the sim. Light speed is like a computational processing speed limit.
