I saw him live last year or the year before. It was fun seeing him play For the Love of God live and some of his other songs, but 90% of his show was him blazing through scales over a funky backbeat songs. He is surprisingly funny on stage.
This is what tends to happen to players who never bother learning to sing and don't want to be professional sidemen. At least Jimmy Herring found a band to hide in.
