Taking some liberties with that headline but my unerstanding is that scientists teleported a particle's quantum information/instruction set/quantum state from Earth to a setellite about ~1k miles away. This happened almost 10 years ago.

They created two entangled photons - Photon A & Photon B - A stayed on earth, B traveled to the satellite.

There is a third photon (C) which contains the quantum state they want to basically teleport.

Scientists perform something called a Bell-state measurement.

Without getting too mathematical (I am retarded)...

They measure Photon A and Photon C together - that measurement destroys their original states.

But because A was entangled with B..."nature" forces Photon B (on the satellite) into a state that's related to Photon C.

After scientists send two ordinary classical bits of information to the satellite, the satellite performs a tiny correction. Now.. Photon B has become exactly the quantum state Photon C originally had.

Not approximately - exactly. The original state on Earth no longer exists anywhere but space.

honestly, there has been no way to be able to use it to transmit information.

it shows that quantum isnt just a local/very small world thing. its most visible there, but clearly runs the entire universe.

An entangled pair can be in a perfectly definite global state while each component separately has a maximally indefinite local state. This permits quantum data hiding. Information can be encoded in global correlations so that separated parties obtain almost nothing through local measurements, while a joint measurement recovers the information.

Also information can exist without being located in any component. Quantum error correcting codes exploit this directly. A logical qubit can be distributed across many physical qubits such that no single qubit contains the encoded information, but sufficiently large or appropriately selected subsets can reconstruct it.
