Imagine spending 25 years raging about losing WWI, then when you finally get a chance to get revenge, you DESTROY the French in 6 weeks. You then find out that the French saved the railroad car of Germany's worst humiliation as a living monument to your humiliation.

As he was walking to the railroad car to force France to surrender, Hitler passed some stone WWI monument. Carved into the stone was this writing: "HERE ON THE ELEVENTH OF NOVEMBER 1918 SUCCUMBED THE CRIMINAL PRIDE OF THE GERMAN REICH. VANQUISHED BY THE FREE PEOPLES WHICH IT TRIED TO ENSLAVE."

Hitler had it blown up 3 days after the surrender. Had to be a CR feeling, even if you hate Hitler.

Finally, after struggling against your own people, struggling against the Austrians, Czechs, Poles, even Italians, you get a chance at revenge. You think you'll maybe fight them to a stalemate and they'll eventually get tired of fighting and seek an armistice. Then, for no real reason whatsoever, your army does the impossible- defeats the French in 6 WEEKS.

You visit Paris for the first time and learn these fuckers have been mocking you with their monuments for the last 25 years.

Hitler didn't even tell the French they had to surrender in the same car that the Germans surrendered in. The French guys showed up thinking they were going to a normal room only to be told "nope, you're going to that car you mother fuckers."

Literally achieving the most perfect revenge your rage addled brain could imagine.

Once the invasion of Poland ended, there was like a 3 month lull when nothing happened. Everyone assumed hitler would work a deal out, and he tried to. He was rebuffed every time.

Then the soviets decided to invade Finland. The Brits were going to help, but to do so they needed to go through neutral Norway. Hitler figured they'd occupy Norway to ensure supply routes to Finland. Since Germany needed norways oil and it had air bases near Britain, he figured he'd preempt the Brit invasion. Once he pulled the trigger on taking Norway, he figured might as well take Denmark too to get both sides of opening.

After taking Denmark, i think hitler just figured fuck it, might as well as go balls to the wall now before anyone else can figure out what to do.

The generals meantime thought he was insane for attacking France, but followed through. Some random chump came up with the attack strategy through the Arden and told it to hitler at a party and hitler loved it so much he took it as his own plan.
