They would like to defang the west by demoralizing it, and some of our “Allies” (UK, Spain, France) play right into this. We have total air superiority over Iran and their entire navy is destroyed. Their regime may cling on in some form, but their military and capability to threaten everyone has been decimated.

In only a month’s time?

It’s utterly bizarre that the US has been driven to a point that people can be convinced we’re somehow losing. It’s just Orange Man Bad, they hate him so the war has to fail. We hate him that much, so let it all burn.

It’s the extent to which they clearly didn’t have sufficient expertise re drones and missile defense involved in the planning that’s disturbing. The Ukrainians are literally laughing at how poorly we’re performing relative to the level they reached two years ago and the extremely expensive losses we’re taking as a result. It was a bad enough blunder that it turned a near flawless victory into a region wide stalemate against an asymmetric force that retains enough strike capability to alter our objectives and induce our civilian leadership to openly beg for peace talks and water down its goals to at least arguably worse/less secure outcomes than were allegedly on the table before the war. Let alone the “Oh fuck The Strait of Hormuz? We totally forgot about that” schtick, which is pathetic even though it’s likely just Trump bullshit riff/Hegseth telling on himself for being left out of the real war planning. It’s been another impressive military victory that the WH is squandering with moronic messaging and statecraft. It was a mistake to put a drunk moron and a gay foam party rentboi in charge of war making.

I agree that it’s a problem our bases weren’t hardened against drone warfare in the area considering our LUCAS is literally a reverse engineered Shahed, and Iran has been doing drones for a long time.

That said, we’ve bombed them around 10,000 times, wiped the mullahs from the earth, sank their entire navy and we control their skies.

LJL at anyone who thinks the US is “losing”.

Also, we don’t get oil from Iran so who gives a fuck about the strait? As Trump said, the UK can reopen it if they need to.

Winning and losing is measured only against actual objectives and outcomes. If you're implying the objectives were:

Drop thousands of bombs

Kill mullahs

Sink navy

Control their skies

we're mostly "winning" in a Pyrrhic victory sort of way

A pyrrhic victory requires us to lose more men or more resources than the enemy. We have accomplished neither of the criteria. The only losers of this war are Iran and Europe

It seems that we are alienating our important allies and creating a post-US world at lightning speed. With our society as fractured and violent as it already is when all of our wants are catered to, it may get pretty crazy when the music stops

So yes, I think any "victory" that doesn't bring the world back into our orbit is Pyrrhic

Europe is rapidly backsliding into irrelevance. Their pensions are insolvent, they have no meaningful military and imported tens of millions of the least productive people in the world. What exactly do they have to offer to us going forward? This isn't the 1950s, they're not going to do anything to contain Russia especially while they're suckling at the year of Russian gas for their energy to power their Chinese electric cars.

We need them to fund our debt and to help maintain the financial system that powers the world. We can't do that alone, and our well-being depends on its continuation

Everything in life is like high school. Even international relations. It's hard to thrive when ostracized by all the cliques even if you come from wealth

This is for gibberish too

"maintian the financial system that powers the world" dude they have had negative real GDP growth essentially since the fall of the Berlin wall.

"Everything in life is like high school. Even international relations" - True, and the USA is like the football quarterback who goes on to become a neurosurgeon and then gets spaceflight qualified. Europe is the teacher's pet nerd who winds up working at a gas station in spite of his purported "intelligence" because for all the whining and regulating, they still have yet to produce anything commercially viable for the whole fucking world. You, like everyone else, forget that there's other opportunities for the US out there. Japan and Korea are far better allies, with South and Central America for cheap manufacturing labor.

Good wake up call on the drones. Not a bad punch in the mouth. Iran is able to show videos that play well in the media. I promise DoD had equally amazing vids but everything is locked down classified, and all we get is a feed of a US rocket hitting a bulldozer. We don't see the absolute decimation of not just Iranian military assets but the entire industrial support apparatus. Entire factories that took decades to build are gone. Now the Iranians are relying on rebuilding stocks from parts smuggled in from China and drones assembled in garages. That's not very sustainable.

Iran needs our gas prices to be high. That's their only leverage. They also depend on oil exports exclusively, so this war is killing their budgets way worse than ours.

Agreed. Killing an 86 year old whose govt might collapse and then turning the public to support his son is a win.

Also destroying their military but giving them $200b in free money per year and showing the world that you will not fight another war in the Middle East is also a win.

Honestly big wins. Plus the $50b cost and some dead Americans. #winning!
