He FIREd for three years without a plan and ended up travel shrewing and burning money on pilot school. He got bored after those three years, so he decided to re-enter the workforce at this pressure-cooker startup. Unsurprisingly, the startup is a shithole with long hours and horrible on-call shifts (alerts every single day, middle-of-the-night alerts most days). He's been at the job for just over a year and is now just waiting to get his next batch of RSUs before he quits, although he said he might not last that long. Wtf. He's going to re-FIRE and likely fuck up his free time again. I'm going to tell him to move to a trailer park in Alabama and buy bonds.
