An anonymous correspondent, evidently a

lady, sends us the following. Under the cir-

cumstances we have allowed her the benefit of

remaining unknown, but we may here note that

a good many letters go into the basket

because writers fail to send us their

name, even in confidence. Our fair scribe

says: 'Will you kindly allow me space to

draw the attention of the authorities to the

state of the Sandgate aboriginals. Their camp

is close to the beach; they have no water

closets, no occupation but to loaf about Sand-

gate and get drunk, crawl out of their kennels

about 11 o'clock in the morning, lie about

naked, barking in the sun, in sight of all that

pass by. Young girls, however modest,

cannot help taking a sly glance when they see

a naked nigger before them.'
