I'm just sensitive to being accused (not saying you're doing this) of supporting a limited initial response as tantamount to supporting all of it. Hardline radicals contributed too, just like how insane bluehaired shitlibs wind up hurting their own cause.
I was a very vocal anti-lockdown, anti-PPPmo. I also flagrantly violated lockdown nonsense and endured plenty of angry shitlibs demanding I mask up. That's about the most I could've done on an individual level.
I will say I would be much more hesitant to support reasonable response in the future after experiencing the hysteria it led to, and would oppose the two weeks then if I knew what I know now. |

But two weeks was reasonable, I know several doctors who worked in hospitals during the initial outbreak and they were triaging people like medics in a war. I knew then that there's always a risk giving the government powers like that, however the risk of increased deaths and hospitals remaining overrun outweighed that for me. Particularly because I didn't think if lockdowns were extended for YEARS people would be so fucking compliant.
It was a black swan event. We've never experienced multi-year lockdowns before that. I regret underestimating the risk. The whole things reminds me of why I oppose every gun regulation. Many are reasonable, but they are always a camel's nose leading to more because libs want to ban them completely. So you have to oppose them all. I didn't think something that should be non-political like a pandemic response would be utilized to the extent they did. Now I do! |

We were projected to have over-run hospitals, ventilator shortages, no PPE, etc.

And then - COVID never came - and libs just got this stupid idea that we could lock down indefinitely - even though the only soluiton we ever had was for everyone just fucking get COVID until it got so week it was NBD - which is what happened with omicron.
Because of that insane policy people forget the original plan and the fact that Trump did actually rise to the occasion - the occassion just never really came (plus ventilators actually just killed people whoops).
