The prevailing story goes that that's how WMTP (RIP) was outted, and AFAIK it's uncontested that OperaSoprano was the one outted him, so that element totally checks out and should be treated as proven fact IMO.
Having said that, although the prevailing story also holds that Psycho Quotemo aka Karen Tatum Jones used to poast as OperaSoprano, and although I'm personally prepared to buy that narrative because it seems to line up nicely, I cannot confirm that element with absolutely certainty. I never heard Wmtp once say that he was in California. I doubt he had ever been there. But he did say he traveled to Houston.
