hard to say. worst case scenario is a rolling grind of bad news that keeps getting worse over a long time (1 year+) and we go into a severe global recession with high inflation (due to supply lines being disrupted). would murder the valuation of stocks.

coronavirus.

on average, historically, aths in the stock market tend to be followed by strong short-run performance, but this isn't a law of markets.

i suspect aths, economic momentum, and strong sentiment are fueling the underreaction by investors to coronavirus.

We’ve been way, way below 2% inflation this decade. The fed probably isn’t terrified of 3% inflation for a while.

im not sure. the anecdotal evidence is it's pretty bad. even with people getting back to work, lots of factories aren't going to be running at full capacity for a while. once intermediate inputs start running out/get disrupted, there will be a chain reaction of delays because it only takes one missing component or input to halt production.

even if the kinks get worked out, demand may soften across the world, which would make production moot.

If we hold the top of the megaphone then we will be fine. If we break through 3090 or so decisively then yes, we could be going much, much lower. Remember that it will need to drop over 40% to actually pop the bubble. If dump gets his wish we will have negative interest rates and QE infinity that may keep the big fat ugly bubble going.

Isn’t China actually getting their production back up now?

I think the only thing to really fear is the fear itself here.

People are freaking out but once they realize it’s actually not that scary things will get back to normal.

I don’t think people will actually stop going to work
