SCOTUS may well overturn the second one (interesting that two Trump judges were on the panel, though), but South Carolina seems to be a done deal for 2026. |

The panel specifically found race-based districting under the old maps, which is illegal even under the new law. To overturn that, SCOTUS would seemingly have to get into the facts of the case, which would normally require a lengthy period of analysis. Doubt they will be able to do that in time for August primaries, and if it looks like they are rushing to do so it will make Roberts and the other swing judges look overtly partisan, which they try to avoid. |
