This is what pisses me off about AI.
People accuse me of using ChatGPT now even when I'm not.
Which is honestly both frustrating and revealing.
It suggests that we have outsourced not only writing, but the expectation that writing can be organized, articulate or mildly polished.
To be clear, I am not saying AI has no effect on discourse. It obviously does. But the deeper issue is that people have started using "this sounds like ChatGPT" as a universal solvent for dismissing anything they don't want to engage with.
At a certain point, its not just accusatory, its structural. The accusation stops being about AI and starts being about a collapse in people's ability to recognize human variation.
Some people just write like this.
Some people have always written like this.
Some of us were catastrophically overexplaining things in paragraph form long before Sam Altman entered the public imagination.
That’s not AI. That’s natural verbosity under conditions of extreme posting pressure.
