Just depends where you live and your kid situation. Also how liquid are you versus how much is your money tied up in (((retirement accounts))).

only $150k per kid seems low

is this figure where one runs the money down anticipating $0 or negative NW at death?

Assumes retirement abroad honestly or in rural USA.

Kids are not really that expensive and $150k gives you a good $20k a year you can use on them for those 15 years or so you need to take care of them. Honestly, might be too high, but healthcare in USA is LOL and fucks families so probably about right.

Real talk: Just you and wife and you live modestly and are willing to live somewhere LCOL but not just scrape by (ie, not just canned food and dollar store garbage): $3M.

Have kids and/or a wife who spends 101% of what you make: lol. Take your annual spending and multiply it by 30. It’s going to be low 8 figures.

Single bro who will move somewhere extremely rural or to Asia: See TT, so about $1M.

Roughly 30% of Americans will earn at least $2 million after tax over their working lifetime, measured in today’s dollars.

Reasonable range: 25%–35%.

But sure, on xo you cant even after $2m in your pocket now and feel safe to stop working. ljl. purell @ desk types

i mean, my HHI is probably $750k so going to $80k would put a pretty big crimp in our lifestyle.

on something like TT's pre-iran war net worth you can semi-retire if single and do something chill on the side that just provides a moderate cash flow without having to toil daily
