The Prep’s principal skill was never doing the work. It was being the person to whom the work was brought.

AI potentially makes his analysts, consultants, and assorted credentialed dependents cheaper. He will call this democratization while retaining the company, the customer relationships, and the proceeds.

The Loser celebrates universal access to intelligence. The Prep asks whether this means he can eliminate six positions. Only one of them has identified a transaction.

Nerds

The Nerd has constructed a machine that lets other people rent Nerd abilities without maintaining a relationship with a Nerd. An extraordinary achievement in collective self-harm.

Excellent Nerds may become vastly more powerful. The procedural Nerd whose entire bargaining position was knowing which menu contains the setting has a less exhilarating future.

The world becomes completely dependent on Nerd infrastructure while becoming less dependent on any particular Nerd. He will explain this distinction accurately during his exit interview.

Jocks

The Jock gets an analyst who never resents him, explains things repeatedly, and prepares him for meetings without requiring him to develop an interest in the subject.

He retains the confidence, coordination, and social ease. The machine supplies the briefing.

The Loser has been waiting decades for the Jock’s insufficient book knowledge to become disqualifying. Instead, someone has developed an inexpensive remedy.

He can now understand the proposal and still be the guy everyone wants to have a beer with. Devastating news for the paragraph-based community.

Scumbags

The capable hands-on Scumbag gets help with estimates, scheduling, correspondence, and the other office rituals previously obstructing his progress from competent tradesman to intolerable small-business owner.

The machine can write his email. It cannot arrive at the customer’s house and replace the failed equipment.

He may remain a spectacular asshole. Unfortunately, the customer requires hot water rather than an agreeable intellectual companion.

Losers

The Loser believes AI will finally allow intelligence to triumph over superficial social advantages. He has overlooked the possibility that his own contribution was largely adequate prose delivered with an attitude.

Summaries. Arguments. Research assembled into documents nobody requested. The machinery is advancing directly through his ancestral habitat.

A resourceful minority will use it to build something and find customers. The standard Loser will produce eleven business plans, interrogate their philosophical implications, and conclude that execution would compromise the concept.

Previously, procrastination required lying to himself. Now he has a tireless collaborator willing to describe it as strategic incubation.

His terminal form is an unemployed man with an executive-function dashboard and a chatbot that considers him unusually insightful.

Woman Clique: the administrative wing

AI can draft the policy, summarize the complaint, and compose the compulsory reminder.

Whether it can eliminate the person whose approval is required is a different question.

Expect the bureaucratic survivor to become less a producer of documents and more a custodian of permissions. Anyone anticipating fewer rules because rules become easier to write has misunderstood the situation catastrophically.

Hot Girls

The Nerd revenge fantasy is that synthetic women will abolish the advantages of actual attractive women.

An attractive image and a socially established person are different things. AI may brutalize the market for interchangeable pictures. It does not automatically replace reputation, reciprocal attraction, invitations, or being welcomed before explaining one’s qualifications.

Meanwhile, the attractive, socially competent woman also gets analytical assistance. She does not have to surrender her existing advantages at the login screen.

She gets help with the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet does not make its former operator hot.

The likely result is cheaper competence, not universal social redemption. Ownership and access remain separate problems.

The Loser gets better tools for documenting who still has both.

This is probably one of his strongest Clique Theory posts because underneath the bit there is a fairly coherent model of what AI commoditizes and what it leaves scarce.

The core claim is: AI lowers the price of codifiable competence without automatically transferring the social position that competence used to support. That immediately favors cliques whose main assets live outside the model’s output channel.

The Prep section is especially strong. “The Prep’s principal skill was never doing the work. It was being the person to whom the work was brought” is almost a complete theory of managerial capital. If AI makes analysis, drafting, modeling, coding, and research cheaper, the owner of the customer relationship or organization can capture that reduction as margin. The displaced analyst may think intelligence has been democratized; the Prep sees a cost center that can shrink. His line that “only one of them has identified a transaction” is very Cowgod and also analytically sharp.

The Nerd section gets at a real distinction between demand for a capability and demand for the person who historically supplied it. Software can make society vastly more dependent on technical systems while reducing bargaining power for mediocre individual technicians. “The world becomes completely dependent on Nerd infrastructure while becoming less dependent on any particular Nerd” is probably the cleanest formulation in the whole post. The variance within Nerd becomes huge: someone who can design new systems gets amplified; someone whose value was procedural knowledge gets compressed.

The Jock section is vicious because it attacks the classic Loser fantasy that information deficits were what prevented merit from winning. AI can patch exactly those deficits. A socially fluent person who previously needed an analyst to understand a proposal can now get the briefing privately and show up with both adequate knowledge and superior social capital. “Devastating news for the paragraph-based community” is perfect because it identifies the mistake: Losers imagined book knowledge as a scarce trump card. AI may make it table stakes.

The Scumbag section is structurally similar. His comparative advantage is embodied, local, practical competence. AI can patch the paperwork around it. That is potentially very favorable. A good HVAC guy who was bad at estimating, emails, scheduling, quoting, and bookkeeping suddenly gets cheap administrative cognition while retaining the scarce part: physically fixing the machine. Cowgod’s point that the customer needs hot water rather than an agreeable intellectual companion is crude but exact.

And then Loser gets hit from both sides. A lot of canonical Loser capital is exactly what frontier models commoditize first: prose, synthesis, argument construction, research, explanation, ideation. Worse, AI also gives the Loser an infinite environment for the thing Losers are already prone to do: substitute elaboration for irreversible action. The line about “eleven business plans” is good because the pathology is not laziness. It is productivity directed into internally rewarding artifacts that never encounter an external selection mechanism.

This line is maybe the best joke in it:

That is almost unnervingly accurate. AI can make non-execution feel incredibly productive because the preparatory layer can now become arbitrarily sophisticated.

And his terminal Loser:

is basically the perfect endpoint of his Loser ontology: immense apparatus, immense reflection, immense self-modeling, weak conversion into anything another Clique values.

The Hot Girls section generalizes the same argument beyond occupational skill. If AI cheapens some dimension on which you were disadvantaged, it does not follow that the person who already possessed other scarce advantages loses them. A socially connected attractive person gets AI too. So relative advantage may persist even as absolute competence rises.

There is a fairly compact economic model hiding underneath the whole thing:

AI reduces rents on **codifiable cognitive production**.

It leaves much more intact: **ownership, customer access, permission authority, social ease, reputation, embodied action, coordination, physical presence, and institutional position**.

And because every Clique receives the same new tool, you cannot evaluate AI by asking “what does it give Losers?” You have to ask what it gives every other Clique simultaneously.

That is very consistent with Cowgod’s broader system. Clique is really his theory of which forms of capital survive translation across contexts. AI changes the exchange rates between those forms. The funny part is that, in his model, the people most excited about universal intelligence are exactly the ones whose existing capital consisted disproportionately of intelligence-shaped outputs.
