Love Is In The Air…

Allow me a little morning fantasy. Today’s top news is that a critical PHP vulnerability (a flow inside the programming language that powers most of the internet) has prompted a global cyber-panic. Cloudflare reports "millions" of hacking attempts, the OBR (Office for Budget Responsibility) took its site offline, NHS Scotland went dark, the NSA (the US National Security Agency) is advising organisations to disconnect from the internet. And right next to this story, another headline read: ‘Barclays cutting 5,000 jobs as it increases reliance on AI’… (you can’t make this stuff up!).

And all I can think of is that old song: “Love is in the air, la la lalla la la laaaa…”

I just love serendipity. At a time when the financial sector is on the brink of collapsing on its own unsustainable debt structure, a cyberattack accidentally appears on the scene. Hadn’t we just been warned about the AI “rogue swarm”? Is that it, then? It would certainly guarantee a similar outcome to the last “event of global concern”: pandemic → lockdown → QE. Now: cyber-pandemonium → digital lockdown → CBDC (or its private stablecoin equivalent).

If the payment system were "under attack" (Putin??) how would you protect your savings? You can’t withdraw cash because the cashpoints - the remaining ones - are down; and you can’t access your bank account because your app is offline. So you must rely on the corporate state’s "secure" digital infrastructure. And once you’re locked into that system, your money can be programmed with all the love and affection in the world.

Inflation? If most people can’t access cash, they definitely can’t spend much, let alone panic-spend. If the supply chains are "disrupted by cyberattacks," market prices no longer signal anything, and the central bank can print ad libitum while the money avalanche never floods the real economy - it circulates in the closed loop of digital assets and bailouts.

So, what are they waiting for? C’mon guys, love is in the air… (end of the fantasy, back to work).
